Santé Highbury Dental offers convenient payment options, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Interac debit, Apple pay or cash. We also now offer benefit assignment, so we can bill your insurance benefit provider directly. It is no longer necessary to pay at the time of your treatment. One of our Patient Care Coordinators will submit the claim on your behalf, either electronically or by mail, as required. When you have secondary coverage available, we can submit that too; note that your signature will be required. If your plan(s) do not cover the entire treatment cost, you will be expected to pay the outstanding portion at the the end of your appointment.
Santé Highbury Dental abides by the current fee schedule as established by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario in collaboration with the dental health benefit providers in Canada. Please note that insurance companies are not obligated to abide by the current fee schedule. There are some who may choose to independently offer their clients benefits based on an earlier year’s fee schedule. In such cases, the patient is expected to pay the difference, even if their plan indicates they receive 100% coverage.
A dental benefit plan is a contract between you, the employer and the insurance company. It is important to understand that the patient is the owner of that benefit plan. Therefore it is you, in consultation with our dental team, who should determine and authorize your dental treatments.
In recent years, these benefit plans have become more complex, and often, individually tailored to each employer’s specific needs and subject to change, even from one year to the next. Santé Highbury Dental Patient Care Coordinators have a keen general knowledge of the plans. They are happy to assist our patients in understanding them, and to help you receive the proper dental care available to you through the plan. That is why we ask you to bring details, and most importantly, regularly update our staff about changes to your benefit plan. However, it remains the patient’s plan, and as its owner, you are ultimately responsible for its accurate interpretation.
